I have been getting ready for winter. I picked the green tomatoes and made pickles. I cleaned out the chicken house and got the roost all ready with deep clean straw. The heated water container is in place. The bees have their insulated hive covers in place and a little extra food inside. The horse has enough hay to last until the pasture is green again. It will not be winter like I knew in CT, but it will get a little colder and little darker and a little more dormant. But we also planted bulbs – over 150 tulips and daffodils. They are snug in the ground under a blanket of pine straw, waiting for spring. Planting those bulbs was also part of getting ready for winter.
